First Facility: Renal Dialysis Centre, Hyderabad

Dialysis is primarily used to provide an artificial replacement for lost kidney function (renal replacement therapy) due to renal failure. Dialysis may be used for very sick patients who have suddenly but temporarily, lost their kidney function (acute renal failure) or for quite stable patients who have permanently lost their kidney function.

There are several people from the less fortunate strata of our society in Hyderabad, who perish because they are unable to afford the expensive dialysis service at private hospitals or do not get a slot in government/public hospitals at the right time. Dialysis is a long drawn treatment that is given to patients once or twice a week, over long periods of time under constant medical supervision.

Humana Charitable Trust's first venture was to setup a Renal Dialysis Centre attached to Mohammadi Memorial Hospital at Hyderabad in a contractual alliance. The centre was established with 2 dialysis machines supported by a reverse osmosis water treatment plant capable of treating 6 patients a day and 36 patients in all at any point in time. The centre is now functioning at full capacity.

Drive to Raise Funds for Expansion of Existing Facility

The surge of patients in dire need of renal dialysis treatment is increasing by the day. There is an urgent requirement for 6 more dialysis machines at a financial outlay of Rs.66,00,000.00
